Hello, my name is Hope Montes and I teach 5th and 6th grade Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI). I also co-teach mathematics in the general education environment with my colleague in the sixth grade. The reason I teach is I feel I have something inside, a passion to help a child be able to become a productive member of society when they grow up. My philosophy of teaching is student-centered. My pedagogy is to use intentional planning for engagement. In my class we use collaborative activities, technology, visual aides, manipulative, project-based learning, and data driven instruction with many progress monitoring tools. I want to engage all students through providing a safe classroom community of learners using multiple modes of instruction to connect the learning to students real life experiences. I want to inspire my students to dream big of the possibilities of the lives they will live.
